It’s always exciting performing at sporting events. As a big sports fan myself, I get to meet the guys that I watch or have watched on TV.
It was fantastic to entertain at the Qld Maroons State of Origin launch this year.
I’ll never forget one of my first ever shows for a big finance company, around 2008/2009 I think..
I was behind a big red velvet curtain ready to go, they introduce me and the curtain peeled back revealing the stage. I looked out onto the audience and it was the Australian cricket team – but also many of the past players that I grew up watching.
As I started my spiel, I’m scanning the room looking at all these players, kinda start stuck, and I spot a really huge guy that my eyes are drawn to. Although everyone was seated, this guy just seemed to be towering over everyone as if he was standing. It was legendary fast bowler Joel Garner.
As a kid, I think I had pretended to be Allan Border and facing him in the backyard.
